no...I would rather deny facts and reality....become ignorant to science and even video evidence showing direct evidence of climate change...claim out of misinformed fairytales that the unprecedented amount of carbon put into the atmosphere since the industrial revolution has nothing to do with human activity...bury my head in the sand and become a true uneducated member of the party of stupid...jeebus will save us...  http://www.newsweek.com/watch-time-lapse-arctic-ice-rapidly-melting-over-last-27-years-301031

As always, I encourage Deniers who dont think fossil fuels are harmful, to prove the scientific community wrong by sitting in their garages with their cars running.

That'll show those greedy scientists who's correct.

+Gary Richardson you can always tell a conservative...they have problems with reading and comprehension...limited vocabulary and never anything to support their ridiculous claims...but what can one expect from the same type of uneducated ignorance that grasp at archaic mythology....  https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/mr-personality/201312/why-are-religious-people-generally-less-intelligent  http://www.iflscience.com/brain/religious-children-struggle-separate-fact-fiction

I would if I had any hope that "Overshoot and Collapse," the "poisoning of our planet," the SME, whatever you want to call it has begun. There are a few, too many elements in play now with a momentum and a time table over which we have no control.

The question then is: how are you/we going to play this hand?

Positive or negative, the end results will be the same; however, the journey ... that is in our/my control. I would prefer more of one than the other.

You?

Someone who equates climate change with gravity is a fool.  An ignorant ass,  who understands neither.

With a name like "wisteria lane" you expect anyone on the entire internet to think you are more credible that a person who accurately identifies himself, is easily discoverable and has a Ph.D. in physics? What a numbskull you are.

+Ed Bradford I don`t expect my name to lend credibility to  my words.  My words stand on their  own.  As do yours.  You pointlessly attacked and belittled  my screen name,  offered up your alleged Ph.D, as some sort of qualifier, yet   failed to offer any thing else in the way of facts, and then resorted to name calling. Congratulations.  You hit the windbag, blowhard, right wing  Trifecta.

Nope, I'm an ignorant. Don't believe the state of fear propaganda. Sorry, this earth with do what it's always done regardless of human influence. Should we be responsible stewards, yes. But I will not bow to the bullshit claims of motive based scare tactics.

+wisteria lane I do, indeed, equate "wisteria lane" with Mickey Mouse and give mickey mouse views due respect. Anyone who identifies her or him self as 'wisteria lane' and is completely anonymous on G+ profile is highly suspect and most probably a robot. 100% of robots never contribute anything to thoughtfull discussion. Wisteria lane so far, qualifies as a robot. Are you a real human being or a program that can only call people names and spout "Prove it"?

It's sad that so many of you just don't care. Are you stupid enough to think there's another planet we can go to once we've destroyed this one? Think about your children and grandchildren and what kind of home you/we are leaving them.

What's Ryan Reynolds going to do, stop going everywhere in a chauffeured limo? Not throw away good food? Stop living in New York City and spread out and own his own live off the land farm? Gimme a break.

Doesn't appear that you can stop climate change, maybe move the needle a little with less pollution, less waste especially of the water resource, but super actors with their bottled water and all of us with our 'Made in (insert foreign country name here that has no emission or slave labor laws)' products that we buy.

Change of attitude (bottled water, huge waste of food, fuel and resources) won't happen here until it's way too late.

Just wait until we get hit by a solar flair knocking out our electric grid, Yellow Stone erupts, or the coming 3rd world war starts and we'll see if "climate change" is a problem then....

+Basket Case Yep. But it happens every day here. Gluttony, waste, lack of foresight. Epic movement of the needle in America is always stopped by the economic engines that rule the country.

Everyone wants their 401K to make good returns on the money, but that can't be done without causing pain with pay cuts and cheaper labor. We have printed billions of dollars to throw against the wall of Wall Street, and it still isn't enough. More news stories today on an over paid football player getting his suspension over turned than the reality that we have sent billions of American dollars to foreign countries and they aren't sending it back.

Eliminate NAFTA and CAFTA and tariff everything coming in on boats. It will cost more, but the money will be here, it will employ Americans and Americans will have that money. You might actually have to save some money up to buy a TV, but all that money would go into American pockets. What we do now is a travesty.

+wisteria lane herpa derp no shit.
When weather happens year after year it's called climate. When weather changes slightly over time in the industrial age over 200 years or so it's called "man made climate change", when it happens before the industrial age it's called "natural climate change". Same shit it's just that no one could make money off of it.
Cameron Turner

+wisteria lane our climate here is continental high semi desert. In SanDiego it is Pacific coastal desert. Miami is sub tropical peninsular. Hawaii is tropical insular. No one can change that. The weather can change from day to day year to year even over decades or hundreds of years but the climate does not change. We here in central Texas will never have an arctic climate. We will never have a mid continental climate. We will never have a tropical climate. Climate is based on geography, location, elevation, etc. It is not weather. The climate can not be changed.
Go to petition project. org to see a list of over 30,000 degree holding scientists who all disagree with man caused climate change.

How do you explain the melting ice caps? It kills me that people don't care about our planet. Does denying that we as a species have helped trigger an unstable climate make you feel better? Where do you think all of the gases and fumes from our cars and from big factories go? Do you think they just magically dissappear? Well they don't. What about the fact that we've sucked the planets resources dry, so dry in fact that the planet can't keep up with reproduction? Ignorance is what is distroying this planet, people who don't care (you) are distroying our ecosystem. Thanks alot. People suck I'm out.
Matthew Smith

+Basket Case you mean the growing ice caps? The ones Al Gore said would have been completely gone by 2013?
Matthew Smith

+Basket Case did you know that post 1975 the only gases cars emit are Carbon dioxide and water vapor? Neither of these two gases are pollutants. How can something that is imperative to plant live be a pollutant? Do you know that we need these gases in our atmosphere as well as the plants that metabolize them?
Matthew Smith

+Cameron Turner 30,000 disagree, and that's only on that petition. They say 97% of scientists say global warming is man made but it's only 97% of 75 scientists that were lied to so they would give the answers that were desired.

+Gary Richardson And as usual, you refuse to read anything you know is going to  disagree with your thoughts terminating cliches.  Hate to enlighten you, but the liberal media is the point (age) where Conservatives refuse to learn anything new about the larger world beyond the perimeter of their immediate insignificant pathetic little lives.
Delbert Warner

+Basket Case and +wisteria lane, you both seem to passionately believe in man-made or should I say human-made Global Warming/Climate Change.

Those who promote Global Warming/Climate Change give the dire warning that if things continue as they are, our planet is doomed. If changes aren't made, there will be no future for humanity. Of course this includes our children, grandchildren and generations that will not come after them.

With this dire warning, I am curious to know what each of you are doing in your personal lives to prevent the progression of Global Warming/Climate Change.

Do you still drive cars?
Use any form of fossil fuel/battery propelled transportation?
Do you travel for leisure purposes using such transportation?
Do you use washing machines and dryers?
Do you utilize air conditioning including heating and cooling in your homes or apartments?
Are you still buying products that are manufactured in facilities that consume energy?
This would include purchasing solar panels by the way.
Do you only buy clothes when the clothes you currently own are completely worn out?

In other words, what are you personally doing to ensure Global Warming/Climate Change does not progress?

Or, do you just want the government to crack down on others?
Basket Case (Jami L)

Well...i happen to drive an eco friendly car, recycle everything, grow a garden, only buy and eat whole foods, only use biodegradable personal products and paper. What do you do? Probably nothing.
Delbert Warner

+Basket Case, I do not believe in Global Warming/Climate Change, yet I do the same as you.

If you believe in Global Warming/Climate Change and are not living like the Amish, you are a hypocrite.

Get rid of the car to begin with.

And you didn't answer all of my questions:

Do you travel for leisure purposes using such transportation?
Do you use washing machines and dryers?
Do you utilize air conditioning including heating and cooling in your homes or apartments?
Are you still buying products that are manufactured in facilities that consume energy? You answered Yes to this one.
This would include purchasing solar panels by the way.
Do you only buy clothes when the clothes you currently own are completely worn out?

+Delbert Warner It's not the
[ V(final) = V(initial) + at ]
that kills you;
it's the
[ F = mass X (change in velocity / change in time) ].

Global warming / climate change is a fact.  It is a fact that our planet has gone through climate changes many times in the past.  It is not a question of whether or not our planet is going through a period of climate changes now but a question of  whether or not, this time around, the changes are due to activities of the man kind?  There is always a first time for anything;  and, we've never had this opportunity to be the reasons behind climate changes before until now.

Now back to the physic equation.

It's not the fall that kills you but the rate of change in momentum.  Somewhere, somehow, sometime eventually, we are going to have to find a happy medium somewhere within these two extremes of competing viewpoints on how to go about changing our ways.  And there is no point in some trying to make changes while other continue to be completely unrealistic.

But you are right about our future generations being... "Fucked!" "Fucked!" Fucked!" ...whatever we do; but it doesn't have to steering ourselves straight through "HEAVEN" and right into "HELL ON A MASS SCALE!"

Although it's worldview that shapes morality, it's one's intentions creating the realilities.  And it only take a small group "FUCKING UP"  what could have been at least another good day for all of us.
